Getting a driving license in the US is generally not as extensive as back home. It is
relatively cheap, but most likely not as rigorous as you are used to back home. You are
allowed to drive on your foreign license when in the USA, but for how long depends on
which state you are in. You will need to look on your state's Department for Motor Vehicles
(DMV) website.
This will also give you information on getting a driving license for your
state, which can also come in handy when you need an ID. For students from certain
countries, you may also be able to get an International Driver’s Permit, typically issued by
your country’s automobile association. You will need insurance if you would like to drive.
