How to Request a SpanTran (TEC) Transcript Evaluation

Your grades must be converted into the American grading system. In this guide you will find information on how to apply for the evaluation of your certificates via TEC, The Evaluation Company.

Evaluation requirements
To apply for the evaluation, you will need the following digital documents:
  • A single PDF scan of your GCSE certificates. The grade report sheet you received on results day will not be approved.
  • A single PDF scan of your A-Level/BTEC L3 certificates (if you have completed them and have received the certificates)
  • A single PDF scan of your University transcripts or diploma (if you are in/completed university)
  • A card for the payment
  • A PDF scan of your passport

  • To be approved by TEC your transcripts need to be stamped and signed by your school. Take colour photocopies into your school and ask a teacher/Principal/exams officer to stamp and sign the photocopies (if they don't own a stamp then just a signature is ok). Then take PDF scans of the stamped and signed transcripts. If you did each credential at a different school, you will need to go into each school to complete this. You need to upload a single PDF of each credential, please do not upload photos or each certificate page individually. Genius Scan is a free app which will let you do this. Examples of what your transcripts need to look like can be seen below.

You apply for the TEC evaluation HERE in our portal and complete the following steps:

Enter your personal data. Country of Study is the country from which the certificates you wish to have evaluated originate.

On the next page you choose the cheapest course analysis, unless you need the evaluation urgently, then of choose 2 or 5 business days. It is important that you choose Course Analysis and NOT General Analysis.

Under Educational history you need to fill in information about your credentials.
    1. You need to list GCSEs and A-Levels/L3 BTEC as separate credentials! If you have started/completed university, you also need to list this as a separate credential.
    2. It is most likely your school is not listed, choose my institution is not available and type in your school name.
    3. Your type of degree is also most likely not listed. Choose type of degree not available and type your degree name.
      1. Such as GCSEs/A-Levels/BTEC/BA(Hons) - do not list each subject as a credential!
      2. Only list courses which you have fully completed. i.e., if you are still doing your A-Levels/L3 BTEC, do not list this, only list your GCSEs.
      3. However, if you are currently in university, you need to list this! Even if you are still completing it.
    4. Put the year you completed your studies, this will be on your certificates.
      1. Put your anticipated graduation year if you are in university.
    5. For most people still in high school, the # years of study for each credential will be 2.

    2. If you are studying at university, your certificates must be verified for $60, select the answer "Please perform verification." However, you can have the certificates emailed directly from your current university to SpanTran / verification@spantran.com, then you don't have to pay anything extra. To do this, the current university must state your SpanTran case/reference number in the email with your certificate. In this case, use the answer below "Student will arrange verification". On the following page, select "Documents are in English ".
    3. If your certificates have not been issued in English (non-UK clients) please select Documents are not in English but a certified English translation will be provided with the original language documents" next
    Warning
On the next page of the delivery report, you must put down details of your future university so the report can be sent to them. You need to put a contact for your school here! If you leave this field blank, only you will receive the evaluation by email and this will slow down the process. You can usually find the details of this person by logging into your admissions portal or by going to the international admissions web page of your school. If there is no name/person and only a generic admissions email, put "international admissions" as the name along with the generic email.
    1. Below this, select "No hard copies".
    2. You will then see a summary of your order.
    3. On the following page you can now upload your certificates in pdf format directly from your computer, either individually or all at once.
    4. Once you have uploaded all your certificates, you can enter your payment details on the following page and pay the fee by credit card.
    5. Don't forget to confirm the payment by clicking on "Proceed payment!
