Filling out a regular school application

The school application usually contains lots of questions about yourself and your school history. You should answer everything as best you can and you only need to answer questions with a *. 
Below are some tips and information to help.

General information
  1. You should apply as one of the following options (or similar options) if you have never been to university
    1. Undergraduate student
    2. International undergraduate student
    3. International freshmen
    4. You should not apply as a graduate student
  2. If you have started university, you should apply as one of the following options (or similar alternatives)
    1. Undergraduate transfer student
    2. International transfer
    3. Undergraduate international transfer
    4. You should not apply as a graduate student
  3. If you have completed university studies, you should apply as one of the following options (or similar alternatives)
    1. Graduate student
    2. International graduate student
  4. Often schools ask about your “SSN” (Social Security Number), but as an international student, you won’t have one. Therefore, enter 10 “0’s” (zero’s) in the SSN field in your application (“0000000000”).
  5. You will apply for or require an F-1 visa
    1. Your current or future status is "non-resident alien"
  6. If in the school application it asks "how did you first hear about SCHOOL NAME" or something similar, please write "Keystone Sports" so the school knows we are helping you with the application
Entering your name
  1. When you enter your name in your application, it is very important that you write your name exactly as it says in your passport. If you look in your passport, you only have first and last names.
  2. What in the UK and Australia we call middle names, are actually part of our first name, and that’s why you have to write it in your application. If the school has a line for “Middle Names” then you should NOT write anything there.
    1. Example: if it says “Carl Anders Filip” under “First Name/Given Names” in your passport, then you must write all these names as “First/Given Names” in your application.
    2. If you have several surnames, you must enter all under the “Last Name/Surname” in your application.
Degrees
  1. If you do not know what degree you want to pursue yet, you can usually choose undecided/undeclared.
    1. If this is unavailable, pick the one that most interests you. You can change it later.
School information
  1. If they ask for your GPA/class rank and this is a must answer question, you can ask your consultant for your calculated GPA. Please check if this question can be skipped. 
  2. You will need to enter information for both your GCSE and A-Level/BTEC L3 schooling.
  3. If a school asks if you have been to college, they mean university. Your college in the UK is high school in the US. 
Application fee
  1. If there is an application fee, this is something you must pay unless you have been informed by coach that it can be waived.
Other things you may be asked
  1. If it asks you to select a campus, you will need to ask coach where you will be
  2. You are applying as a full time student
  3. You will not be applying for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA)
